Each year brings new offerings in the night sky along with the regular favorites and 2008 is no exception with many great sights to behold in the night sky.
January
The first of these delights is the continuing close pass of Mars to the Earth, well worth a look.
Mars is the bright red "star" rising in the east early in the evening and appearing a impotence treatment higher each night as it slowly moves away from the Earth.
There is another interesting event in the night sky this month and that is the close pass of the comet Tuttle rising to magnitude 5.8 (faintly visible to the naked eye) as it passes through the constellations of Pisces and Cetus in the first half of the month and then through Fornax in the later half.
One of the regular delights this time of year & high in the mid evening sky is the open cluster M45, better known as the Pleiades or seven sisters open cluster.
This is an easy naked eye cluster of 7 stars, revealed in all its glory through a pair of binoculars.
February
Saturn takes Center stage this month as it moves towards opposition on the 24th, rising in the east as the sun sets in the west.
For those fortunate enough to live in South eastern Australia and New Zealand they will get to see a partial solar eclipse on Feb the 7th.
The Sun will be covered to a maximum of 58% in Auckland.
March
A fairly quite month Astronomy wise, March is student loan consolidation loan as the earliest Easter Sunday since 1923, with Easter Sunday falling on March the 23rd.
