My Ten Reasons Why I Work From Home
Are you thinking about working from home? I began to consider this idea about three years ago. Once I began thinking about it, there was no turning back Maine Lemon Laws me. Here are the top 10 reasons that I began to work from home.
1. TO BE WITH MY KIDS. It has always been very important to me to raise my own children, and be there for them. When I was married, that was possible for me. But when I became single after 18 years of marriage, I began to wonder how I could still 'be there for my kids', and bring in an income as well. That is how the working-from-home idea began for me.
2. I WANT TO BE MY OWN BOSS. I have had many, many bosses in my earlier life and I must say that not all of those who were bosses knew how to BE a boss! I did not relish the thought of putting myself at the beck and call of someone else. I wanted to be the one telling myself what to do!
3. I WANT TO SET MY OWN HOURS. Working for myself means that I can arrange my own time-schedule and make my work schedule fit into my family life! It's so much easier to be able to plan work around life, instead of having to do the opposite!
4.NO NEED TO PAY FOR DAYCARE. Being a one income family nowadays, it's hardly worth it to have to pay for full time daycare. Working for myself in my own home means I have both the time and the energy to take care of my own kids. Being able to do that is a huge saving for me financially.
5. I SAVE ON TRANSPORTATION AND CLOTHING. These two things as well are huge expenses for a single income family with children. Working from home saves money on gas and/or bus fare, and I work in my blue jeans most of the time!
6. I CHOOSE MY DAYS OFF. There is no one telling me when my days off are, or that I have to work weekends. No more do I have to arrange to take time off for the doctor or the dentist. And when my kids are sick, I don't have to cancel work or rush around trying to find last minute babysitters to stay with them!
7. I AM ABLE TO ATTEND MY KIDS' SCHOOL PROGRAMS. Isn't it disheartening when you have to tell your daughter you're sorry but you can't be at her Christmas recital because you can't get off work? Working at home ensures that I never again have to do that to my kids.
8. I WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MY OWN LIFE. To be honest, I don't want anyone else telling me what I can or can't do, telling me what is and isn't possible! I want to be able to push myself and challenge myself and if I happen to fail at something, I want to be the only one I can blame!
9. I WANT TO WRITE MY OWN PAYCHECK. I don't want anyone else telling me what I'm worth! I don't believe it's up to someone else to decide my worth, do you?
10. I CHOOSE WHEN TO TAKE A VACATION. I don't have to tiptoe into my bosses office and hope that I can get vacation time I really need. Working for myself ensures that I take vacations when it's right for me!
Now that I have written all these down, I realize that I can probably summarize them all with one word--autonomy! Autonomy means "independence or freedom." In a nutshell that's what working for oneself provides. Independence. Freedom. Autonomy! Here's another meaning for 'autonomy', and the one I like the very best: "the right of self-government". That just about says it all for me.
Now, let me say this. Working for oneself is not easy! You must teach yourself to be disciplined and consistent. You must learn how to persevere and never give up. You must learn how to believe in yourself and your own efforts. And most of the time, if you choose to work from home online, you will be mostly self-taught.
But having said that, I'm thrilled to be working from home!
Cheers!
