Do You Share the Name With Someone Famous - This Can Be a Difficult Situation on the Internet

Not long ago, I met a realtor who is having a bit of a tough time Car insurance price quote accident at work market due to the subprime lending fall out and that was not her only problem it turns out she also shares a name with a very famous former Foolonthehill Tough problem you annuity loan Well, for her it is because she is buried in the search engines and her personal brand name identity is very important for her business and sales.

This is a very interesting topic and yes, I too share the name with someone famous - a character in a novel. The character was a WWII RAF Pilot and the funny thing is that I am a pilot too. When I first started on the Internet that RAF pilot was showing up ahead of me on Google, Yahoo, MSN, Northern Light, Hotbot and all the other search engines.

This is because sites like Amazon.com carried the book. It was a whole series with the main characters sharing my family name. At least my realtor friend shares her name with a famous Movie Star who is quite beautiful so she is lucky. Another friend of mine shares a name with someone I bet he wish he didn't - Scott Peterson, although his is spelled "Petersen" but the other guy still shows up first in the search engines, he got buried on page six.

In business you have to compete for search engine ranking if you want to succeed, sometimes having a unique name is beneficial, if not, it takes a lot of extra work to get your name at the top of the search engines. Something to contemplate in 2008.
